                 This is why the Austrian manufacturer of plastics recycling plants has been relying on Profinet since the introduction of the latest control generation. Profinet switches from Helmholz play a central role in the implementation of corresponding machine networks.  In a study quoted by the BVSE Plastics Recycling Association, the management consultancy McKinsey expects 80 percent more plastic waste worldwide in the current decade by 2030. So there is no question: global consumption of plastics has been growing rapidly for years - and with it the need for efficient recycling plants, especially as recycling rates are rising in many markets. Erema Engineering Recycling Maschinen und Anlagen Ges.m.b.H. has also grown up with this development: started in 1983 as a pioneer in the industry, the company headquartered in Ansfelden near Linz in Austria is today the world market leader in the development and manufacture of plastics recycling machines and system components.

                 Since a lot of technology had to be integrated in a small space, it was decided to place the PROFINET elements including the switches as decentralized as possible. The 44 servo motors with integrated drives, the 4 valve terminals and the remote IO are all decentralized and designed in IP67.  All these PROFINET elements are connected via M12 technology to the managed PROFINET switches with IP67 protection class from Helmholz. These switches are certified by PI. They can be easily integrated into the hardware configuration of the PLC and thus provide optimum functionality.
